Imagery: Brazil's progressive power trio launches new single, "End Of The Line"
The song will take part of the band's new studio album, successor of the highly acclaimed "The Inner Journey" distributed worldwide by Cleopatra Records
Joceir Bertoni (vocal/guitar), Ricardo Fanucchi (bass) and Bruno Pamplona (drums/vocal) are collectively known as Imagery, the most dangerous power trio of the Brazilian progressive rock scene!
When Imagery came to light they surprised even the most optimistic forecast. Definitely! After all, who would expect that a power trio from the countryside of Brazil that plays progressive rock mixed with heavy metal and jazz would reap many fruits with so little time of career and just one album released?
It all started with the release show of "The Inner Journey", their debut album, which came during the opening for Focus, the legendary progressive rock group, in 2012.
Then, the impact of the album in the national press might not have been better. In numerous reviews, the record received maximum rates, including Rock On Stage that also published that Imagery "owes nothing to bands such as Dream Theater." "The Inner Journey" was also nominated for Dynamite Prize as one of the "Best Brazilian Heavy Metal Albums" of 2012.
Right on the next year, Imagery gave one of the most important steps in its career that was the signing of a distribution agreement with the U.S. label Cleopatra Records (Tangerine Dream, Nektar, Hawkwind, Motörhead, Yes, Asia) that already released the album "The Inner Journey" in North America, Europe and Asia.
Soon, super positive reviews started to be published in the international press. The U.S. site Critical Jazz stated that Imagery "is one of the few bands working in the field of progressive rock with the ability to keep the music fresh and revigorating."
In 2014, the paths of Imagery and Focus crossed again. Imagery performed two more shows with Focus in Curitiba and Florianopolis.
Imagery also visited many other cities in Brazil during the tour in promotion for "The Inner Journey".
Since then, the band have been working on the compositions for its next album at Play Rec Pause Studios in Londrina/Brazil.
Still untitled, two singles from the upcoming album were already released, "Blinded Nation" and "People Say", and the power-trio now launched a new one, "End Of The Line". To listen, to go the band's official channel on Youtube:
Today we want to introduce WE SAW WORLDS COLLIDE with their new EP "Apeiron" to you.
This is no "muppet-puppet-metal" - this is alternative metal with the liability to beautiful spherical getaways. Heavy guitars encounter to a sometimes clean/ sometimes harsh voice that put you back into reality. But this is no sucked dry copy of something you have heard a lot of time before - this is outstanding musicianship by five guys from Augsburg/ Germany.
"Apeiron" was realized together with Simon of TO THE RATS AND WOLVES!
There are only a few ways to flee from the conformity that is pervading todays music scene: inventiveness, contrast and uniqueness.
CARPE NOCTEM is creating their own unique sound, full of diversity and distinct from the monotony of the mainstream. By mixing and switching between powerful and fast movements on the one hand and slow, classical parts on the other, they are catching audiences from all different genres and ages.
"String Metal", that is how the instrumentalists define their musical language. The group is comprised of Friedrich Busch (violin), Cornelius Wagner (cello), Martin Streicher (cello), Sascha Dobschal (bass) and Daniel Cebulla (drums).
Beside countless performances on german stages and street music sessions all over the world, in 2012 they released their EP "op.2: allegro con fuoco". On the 25th of november 2016 the band has released a new album "Schattensaiten", comprised of a variety of instrumental tracks as well as two tracks with guest vocals.
Sunrunner is a heavy-prog trio formed in 2008 in Portland, Meine, USA. The band is currently composed by David Joy (vocal/bass), Joe Martignetti (guitar) and Ted MacInnes (drums).
Sunrunner debuted with the album “Eyes Of The Master” (2011), a prog rock record with heavy metal leanings. Since then, their second album "Time In Stone" (2013), Sunrunner had solidified more into a metal band with prog rock influence, using elements of jazz and acoustic instruments such as violin, flute, bouzouki and percussion. "Heliodromus", the third full length released in September 2015 by Minotauro Records (Italy), is the most epic one to date, defining the term "heavy-prog" as the bands genre.
"Heliodromus" is getting excellent response from European and UK press, especially because of its own music identity, as shows these statements:
"A perfect album!" (Pest Webzine / Romania); "Phenomenal Music" (Rock Hard / Slovenia); "A Great Album" (BadBlack Unicorn / Germany); "A real discovery for all Progressive Rock fans" (In Hard Magazine / Germany); "A very interesting mixture" (Rock It Magazine / Germany); "It takes a few listens to get into, but is well worth the effort" (Power Play Mag / UK); "Heliodromus offers a very varied journey in the very own Sunrunner universe" (CD Aktuell / Germany); "A good listen and I wouldn't mind catching them live sometime" (Rock Society Magazine / UK); "A quite peculiar and unusual" (Crossfire Metal / Germany); "The album is beautiful by the wild influences from all directions" (Der Hörspiegel / Germany); "Heliodromus is an album that is growing... a very unconventional band" (Heavy-Metal.de / Germany); "With Heliodromus, Sunrunner have developed their own sound cosmos which is quite sure it will find followers" (Hooked On Music / Germany); "It takes some time until you get into the work, but once heard, and if your are a progressive lover, you can not get away so quickly" (Metalunderground / Austria); "Sunrunner created an album here which is simply different, chaotic, creative and courageous, not just for progressive fans" (My Revelations / Germany); "Heliodromus is an absolute 'must' for all fans of unconventional heavy metal" - (Powermetal / Germany).
In August Sunrunner completed a four shows tour in Brazil. The band was beyond welcomed by the Brazilian audience.
"Heliodromus" also received great reactions from the Brazilian press: "Mesmerising" (Rumors Mag); "Excellent album... first class band!" (Metal Samsara); "Inventive, intriguing" (Road To Metal); "Super Interesting" (Arte Metal); "Everything harmonizes perfectly... unique sonority and very catchy" (Whiplash); "Rich in feeling in its essence" (Metal Na Lata); "Plenty of character and musical identity" (Alquimia Rock).
The band couldn't be happier and motivated with this great repercussion in Europe, UK and Brazil, so they are working on the pre-production of its next studio album to be released next year.
In the meanwhile, if you are still not convinced about the band's fire power, check out the lyric-video for the track "Star Messenger":
Awesome beatboxing cover of the Dance of Eternity.
More than 100 different time signature changes.
I always knew DT was technically complex, but this added a new dimension to it all. Both entertaining and educational!
